Pend Oreille supports a wide diversity of catchable fish species. The most popular species with anglers are kokanee, gerrard-strain rainbow trout (also known as kamloops), mackinaw (also known as lake trout), cutthroat trout and smallmouth bass. Bull trout fishing was once popular on this lake, but now since this fish is on the endangered species list, harvesting it is illegal.
